What is Frecciabianca?

What is Frecciabianca?

Frecciabianca, which translates to "White Arrow" in English, is a part of high-speed trains operated by Trenitalia. While not as fast as Frecciarossa or Frecciargento trains, Frecciabianca trains can reach speeds of up to 200 km/h, offering a reliable travel option along Italy's Adriatic coast and other important Intercity routes. These trains connect major cities such as Milan, Venice, Bologna, Ancona, Pescara, Bari, and Lecce, making them ideal for medium to long-distance travel.

There are three types of Frecciabianca trains, including the ordinary Frecciabianca, ETR 460, and ETR 470. These trains offer two classes of service: First Class and Second Class, each with varying levels of comfort and amenities.

Frecciabianca Train Ticket Types

Frecciabianca trains provide a variety of ticket options, including Base, Economy, and Super Economy, to accommodate different travel preferences and budgets. This approach ensures flexibility and affordability for all travellers.

Frecciabianca Train Ticket Types

Base

Trenitalia's Base tickets are standard full-price tickets ideal for travellers who need flexibility in their travel plans, such as business travellers or those with uncertain schedules. Travellers can change their ticket's date, time, or class as many times as needed without incurring extra costs. However, if you request a refund, Trenitalia will withhold 20% of the ticket price. These tickets are available from six months in advance until the day of departure.

Economy

Trenitalia's Economy tickets are discounted tickets designed for travellers looking to save on costs. Travellers can change the date or time of their ticket once, subject to a fee and any fare difference, making them suitable for leisure travellers or those with more predictable schedules. These tickets are available up to six months in advance until the day of departure, but availability may be limited due to high demand. Please note that Economy tickets are non-refundable.

Super Economy

Trenitalia's Super Economy tickets are the most affordable option, designed for travellers who prioritise cost savings over flexibility. These deeply discounted tickets are ideal for those with fixed travel plans and confident their schedule will not change, as Super Economy tickets are non-changeable and non-refundable. They're available to buy six months in advance, and up to midnight on the ninth day before the train's departure. Due to their popularity and limited availability, it is advisable to book as early as possible to secure the best rates.
